| CHARMED She reads books on UFOs all night CHARMED She reads books on UFOs all night She thinks Aleister Crowley's out of sight (Oh yeah, she digs the Beast) But she don't love me anymore Creepy people at my door Could it be that you're the one they're looking for? She wears Sunday morning séance clothes Pentagrams are tattooed on her toes But she don't want to play with me Psychic Friends is on T.V. But it isn't quite the way they said it would be I'm the one who wants you, can't you see? How we've come so far and so soon it's over I'm the one who loves you, can't you see? We were friends so long and we'll both be sorry She has shrines to Shiva in the hall Planetary charts are on the wall (Neptune and Mercury) But she don't want to sing this song Mars and Jupiter are wrong But the Earth remains in orbit all day long I'm the one who wants you, can't you see? How we've come so far and so soon it's over I'm the one who loves you, can't you see? We were friends so long and we'll both be sorry She reads books on UFOs all night. |

Behind the Song--The Story While any similarities to persons—living or dead—are purely coincidental, this song is about a woman who was a witch, in the worst sense of the word. Her claims to fame: she was a cousin of David Coverdale (of Deep Purple and Whitesnake), and she once appeared with a group of psychic detectives on the Maury Povich show. This unnamed women had charmed/hexed/cast a spell on my good friend and band mate. This song, then, is a love song to my friend; a veritable plea to flea the “charms” of the witch in question. |
