| WILLIAM LLOYD CREATIONS UPDATE Have You Heard The News? |
February, 2008: Carolyn and I attended the conference for the Oklahoma Counseling Association in Oklahoma City. Afterward, we busked in front of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art where we then viewed the film I'm Not There. A word to the wise: the film will only be appreciated by hardcore Dylan fans--and even then the verdict is still out. Nonetheless, we salute director Todd Haynes for taking on such a novel and ambitious project. Also saw Juno--loved it, loved it, loved it! On February 15 we saw the one and only Sir Tom Jones at the Chickasaw Casino in Thackerville, OK. We are long time fans and this was the first we had ever seen him. Though 67 years of age, Tom Jones still HAS IT! Great band--Great Concert! |
December, 2007: We spent a couple weeks at the Beaches (Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville) in Florida. Carolyn and I shot film and photos for a music video of the song Neptune Beach. We got some great footage and will be posting the video as soon as we wrap it up. We also saw and talked with the rockabilly band The Kings of Hell--terrific! I pitched some of my songs (Goin' to the Dogs, Deader Than Hell, and Marriage in the First) to their singer that I think would be perfect for them. We'll let you know how that goes. |
November, 2007: Carolyn and I did some recording at our favorite studio: Crystal Clear Sound in Dallas. We hired Dallas drummer Sean McCurley (fantastic!) and we laid down scratch tracks and drum parts for eleven songs! So, we have plenty to work with in the coming months. Our session included one of my newest songs, When I Meet Michael Stipe. We performed the song at a poetry reading in Durant and have a video of the performance posted on YouTube--Check it out: Video |

March, 2008: William and Carolyn spent Spring Break in Columbus, Ohio, where they worked at Relay Recording studio. We worked on 17 songs with engineer Jon Fintel, keyboardist and musician extraordinare Dave Powers, drummers Louis Tsamous and Michael "Little Ringo" Fridley, and engineer/mandolin player Jay. The tunes are sounding Great! We also shot video footage for the song, "In The Basement." (The chocolate Last Supper--pictured left--was a birthday gift from Dave Powers) On March 5, William returned to Crystal Clear Studio in Dallas, and recorded guitar parts for several songs and laid down scratch tracks for 8 new songs. Carolyn spent some time with family in Florida as well as working on arrangements for having a children's choir record William's song "Dream with Me." Carolyn was also at work pitching our Professional Development programs for educators to school districts in Florida. We'll keep you briefed as things develop. |

April 2008: William and Carolyn performed their In The Basement show at The Main Street Coffee Bar in Durant on April 18. The show was videotaped with sound recording done by Dr. Frinkle--we'll be posting clips. Darrah Dunn recorded lead vocals for two of William's songs: Azalea and Hidden Pictures at Crystal Clear Sound in Dallas. The rough mixes are BEAUTIFUL! We will be releasing them soon. Stay tuned for details. |
For the last half of 2008 and into the first months of 2009, William and Carolyn have continued their feverish pace of living large and living well. We've done a lot of traveling (at one stretch of the summer we did 5,000 miles and 14 states); performing (always adding songs and honing our show); writing, publishing and presenting scholarly papers (San Antonio and Savannah were great fun); creating works of art (paintings, videos, photos, CD inserts); working in recording studios (we've become veritable studio rats--Carolyn has taken to producing like Phil Spector--but she doesn't play with guns, too much); doing home improvement projects (on our beautiful home); entertaining friends and family (we sure know how to have fun); creating and fine-tuning professional development projects and programs for The White Eagle Theatre of Creative Thought for the Here and Now; releasing CDs and promoting our creative works; and most significantly, we were married on November 26, 2008! |
